YES has taken on an apprentice, 16-year-old Matthew Brown, who will be working with instructors at the company to learn the skills and knowledge he needs to excel at technical engineering. He joined YES just a couple of months after 21-year-old Ryan Lee-Storey was taken on as a junior technician.
Roy Burton, managing director, said: “We are very excited to be investing in the exciting new training programme. A lot of the workforce in the textile industry have retired and as a result, skills have been lost. We are trying to prevent a further loss by recruiting young staff into our company, allowing them to grow into highly-skilled technicians able to install, train and service our customers of tomorrow.” The company intends to take on one or two apprentices each year, and will guide them through a training cycle of five to seven years.
