For womenswear trends in 2025, think flared leggings, stretch fabrics and hybrid styles reports Elaine Fyfe, brand manager at SF Clothing

What are the key womenswear trends in 2025?

2025 is all about elevated essentials. Think cropped tops, flared leggings, flattering racer cuts and playful layering. Comfort and versatility remain key, but with a sharper, more fashion-forward edge.

Are there any particular features that womenswear customers are currently demanding?

There’s a definite shift towards wider-legged bottoms, creating a new silhouette. Customers are loving the proportions of high-waisted trousers paired with cropped tops, or layered with oversized unisex sweats. There’s been a real buzz around our new Flared Leggings, alongside strong demand for the Sustainable Fashion Wide-Leg Joggers (made with 100% recycled materials).

This shift reflects a continued preference for fashion that transitions seamlessly between professional, social, and relaxed settings.

There’s still a strong appetite for gender-neutral styling – pieces that feel inclusive but remain subtly tailored for women; but at the same time we’re seeing our on-trend women’s fashion pieces selling really well.

What innovations can readers expect to see in this sector throughout this year and the next?

Innovation is being driven by hybrid styles that blur the line between loungewear, activewear and daywear. Our new launches will focus on modular designs: garments that can be worn and styled multiple ways to maximise wearability and branding potential.

Take the Racer Back Midi Dress for example – stylish worn solo, or layered with an overshirt or cosy sweat for a modern twist on women’s workwear.

And what about fabric choice – what is proving popular?

Stretch fabrics have led the way. Elastane blends lend themselves to the more fitted, flattering styles that are moving on from the oversized, unisex look popular during and after the pandemic.

Our Feel Good Stretch Range continues to be a customer favourite. Crafted from premium 40 singles yarn and enzyme-washed for a super-smooth surface, the soft stretch fabric with supreme finish offers both comfort and a brilliant base for HTV and DTF printing.

How popular is womenswear as a brandable product?

We’re seeing womenswear sales bloom. This rise might align with the surge of female artists dominating the music scene – think Sabrina Carpenter, Charli xcx, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa – all inspiring a confident, fun approach to women’s fashion.

It’s about pieces that blend comfort, functionality, and conscious design.

Womenswear is absolutely growing as a brandable product. Demand is steadily increasing as more businesses, events, and lifestyle brands invest in genuinely women-specific designs, rather than just resized men’s apparel. Brands offering this are seeing real rewards.

What was last year’s bestselling SF womenswear style, and what’s shaping up to be a bestseller in 2025?

Our standout style in 2024 was the Women’s Cropped Top, which even overtook the long-running bestseller, the Feel Good Stretch T.

Its flattering racer-cut armholes, easy-to-wear cropped silhouette, and great-value price point made it a favourite across sectors – from fashion brands to bars, promo, merch, and even athleisure, especially for dance and cheerleading, thanks to the kids’ option (SM106).

We expect another strong year for this style, but we’re also seeing early momentum behind our new Bandeau Top and One Shoulder Top, which have the same soft, cotton-rich stretch fabric.

Overall, there’s a visible shift towards quality over quantity, with customers choosing better fits, better fabrications, and more sustainable options.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to Images readers to help them sell more womenswear?

Women want styles that feel good, look great, and fit their lifestyle – whether that’s casual, professional, or active. It’s not just about colour; it’s about cut, comfort, and confidence. Highlight how versatile each piece is, and use authentic, relatable imagery that speaks to a diverse female audience. The more wearability and value you show, the more likely you are to convert interest into sales.
