You know the name, now get to know the person! Sarah Clark, sales manager at Craghoppers, talks about her love of concerts, floristry, and discovering a talent for padel

How long have you been working in the industry?

This makes me feel really old…I have been working in the industry for 16 years now!

What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

When I was about 14/15, I got a weekend job as a potwasher in a local café. Usually they would serve big breakfasts to fishermen coming back from a morning fishing session. A few times one of the Coronation Street actors, Sean Wilson (who played Martin Platt), used to come in for breakfast. I was very young, but also felt starstruck.

Which three words would your friends use to describe your personality?

I have literally just asked my friends this, and they’re all shouting words at me, so I am picking the ones that are flattering: loyal, reliable and intuitive.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?

Probably Fleetwood Mac at Wembley or the Dixie Chicks. I’ve been to so many concerts, but these were both really memorable. It’s something I usually do with my mum as we both enjoy the same music, and it’s a nice way to spend time together and make memories.

Tomato ketchup or brown sauce?

Tomato ketchup 80% of the time, but there are occasions when I like brown sauce.

What fact about you surprises people?

Probably that I have a qualification in floristry, and I am really creative and made my own wedding flowers for the church.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Monster Munch crisps, pickled onion flavour, and country music!

What’s your favourite takeaway?

This is hard, but I think my local fresh cooked sushi restaurant, which does takeaway – so delicious!

What’s your hidden talent?

Well, I wouldn’t have said this a few weeks ago, as it was even hidden from me: I have just started to play padel, and I am getting pretty good now. I’m not amazing, but certainly much more talented than expected!

If you could have anyone else’s job, whose would you want?

I would probably have an outdoor job like (TV gardener) Monty Don’s.

If you could be anywhere on Earth right now, where would you be?

I would take me and my husband back to Sri Lanka, and finish our honeymoon off . We were there in 2021 and had to be flown back to the UK after only a few days, due to the Covid-19 outbreak and Sri Lanka going into lockdown.

Which gadget or app couldn’t you live without?

I wanted to try and sound interesting on this, but honesty took the better of me… it’s my slow cooker. With a 2 1/2-year-old little girl, it’s the best way I can prepare us meals that are healthy, hearty and don’t take time away from being with her.

If you could ask one person (living or dead) one question, what would you ask?

I would probably ask Princess Diana to tell me her life story in her words, so we can find out more about what really went on.
