You know the name, now get to know the person! Freddy Craze, owner of Master Stitch, talks about boxing, being able to talk to anyone, and struggling to find ‘PG’ answers to these questions!

How long have you been working in the industry?

I was born in the industry! I first started working at my dad’s place when I was 14, 15 in the summer holidays. That’s the first time he [Lee Craze of Fresh Air] put me on the end of the dryer.

What’s your most over-used word or phrase?

Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

Which tune can’t you get out of your head at the moment?

Baddest Of Them All, it’s a new one used on a lot of TikTok videos.

What’s your favourite sports team?

I’m into boxing, my favourite boxer is Tyson Fury. I go to a few of the fights. I also own a boxing gym in Hemel Hempstead called Mamba Gym.

Tomato ketchup or brown sauce?

Got to be tomato ketchup, hasn’t it?

What is the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

I can’t tell you, because it’s not PG. Let me think of something else, there’s been a few actually. Falling down a flight of stairs in front of a new customer, that’s probably one of the ones that I can say.

What fact about you surprises people?

My age. I’ve just turned 30. I branched off when 21, by 25 I had a really good business.

What’s your greatest ambition?

I want three sons. I’ve got one boy, Lenny. I want three boys to carry on the family name.

What’s your hidden talent?

Again, it’s got to be PG, hasn’t it?! I’m very good at walking into a room where I don’t know anyone and being able to talk to anyone about anything. I’m very open minded, I’m interested in all sorts of stuff.

If you were to do another job, what would it be?

Probably something to do with property development.

If you could be anywhere on Earth right now, where would you be?

I’d like to be back in the ‘80s being at Fresh Air with my grandad and my dad and see what’s happening. The person that started Fresh Air, Danny [my grandad] died when I was three months old so I never got to be around him. I’d like to be there in the late ‘80s when they were printing for Simple Minds and all those sorts of bands and just see how it was back then, see how they used to do things.

Which gadget or app couldn’t you live without?

Earpods. People think I’m a drug dealer as my phone never stops ringing and pinging all day, so I constantly have my earpods in. I couldn’t live without them because all you’ve got to do is tap them and they answer the phone. They are very handy, especially in our industry where you need your hands free all the time.

If you could ask one person (living or dead) one question, what would you ask?

Going back to my grandad again: “Have you got any advice for me?” What do I need to do as a young man to make sure that as an old man I’m alright and don’t have to worry – financial advice, life advice, the whole package.
