On 1 June, the hotly anticipated Modern Fit Micro-Fine Pique Polo (H101) from Henbury hit the world of imprint, showing off its modern cut with short ribbed collar and fitted sleeves with ribbed cuffs. The fine, tight knit creates a smooth piqué surface, ideal for print decoration. This men’s style polo – it does, however, go down to a XS for any women hoping to nab one for their wardrobe – has a two-button placket with dyed-to-match, shallow buttons, comes in 25 colours and up to size 5XL, and has a contrast herringbone tape in the back neck and side vents.
It was first previewed at Printwear & Promotion Live! earlier this year, explains brand manager Kirsty Galinska, who comments that “customers were very excited to see the modern fit polo.”
The H101 was created after the brand researched the current polo market and listened to customer feedback. “The Henbury polo range is highly regarded for its quality and many of Henbury’s customers were requesting a modern fit polo with the quality they expect from Henbury,” explains Kirsty. “The design details have been developed from reviewing current polo shirts within the workwear, leisurewear and retail markets to ensure this has the widest range of styling appeal. We have selected the features which we believe are the most desirable for our current market such as modern fitting sleeve with ribbed cuffs and being easy to re-brand, and also offer added premium details such as the contrast herringbone taping to the neck and vents, whilst also ensuring the most lasting appeal rather than fast fashion trends.”
The colour palette was also subjected to the same level of scrutiny, with Henbury’s team analysing the most popular colours across the brand’s polo shirt range as well as reviewing the colours offered throughout the polo market. “The chosen colours were felt to be the most current and strongest offering ensuring a colour for everyone,” comments Kirsty. As the brand is regularly asked for both larger and smaller sizes across all of its products, the decision was taken to make the new polo available in the largest size range in the market, says Kirsty, and so sizes XS-5XL are available in the top seven performing colours, with all other colours available in sizes S-3XL.
It brings a fresh new look to the printing and embroidery market, says Kirsty, adding: “The H101 has been designed to be stylish, functional and contemporary – to form the perfect balance between corporate requirements and a stylish wardrobe – making it the perfect option for modern work places. The Micro-Fine Pique Polo has a finer, tighter knit, which creates a smoother piqué surface, making it ideal for print and embroidery decoration.” The cut-out back neck brand label allows decorators to easily rebrand the polo.
“The hype is building and there’s been lots interest,” says Kirsty. “The orders are coming in thick and fast!” As for whether there is a women’s version in the offing, Kirsty is keeping quiet for now, saying only: “We are currently in the process of developing our exciting 2017 range, so watch this space!”
