Organic cotton fabrics lead the way for Mantis World’s new products in 2019, which range from striped Breton tops for babies and kids through to smooth Tipped Polos for adults
Mantis World has introduced 15 brand new styles for 2019 across its ranges – all with a focus on sustainability, style and the demands on the decorator. The brand has pledged to use only sustainable fibres by 2021 and is already taking large steps towards its goal by not only introducing the new sustainable styles but also by transitioning many of its existing designs from conventional to organic cotton.
Babybugz, its babywear brand for ages 0-3 months up to 2-3 years, has been enjoying high level growth, reports Mantis. 2019 sees the introduction of its ‘Denim Jeanius‘ Baby Rocks collection of four certified 100% organic denim baby products.
“All have been carefully researched in terms of responsible manufacture and environmental appeal, with special care taken to offer decorators the opportunity and optimum space to embellish, print, appliqué or embroider,” says Babybugz. Each style features a tear-off label and, as seen in retail denimwear, has contrast orange-coloured stitching. “Much of the success in babywear has been seen in the own brand and private label sector as facilitated by e-tailing and so credibility of styling is paramount,” adds the brand.
The Baby Rocks Denim Jacket (BZ53), for example, has a plain back that is free from panelling so as to offer a great area for personalisation. The front of the jacket still features all the expected panelling, but this is done by stitch detail rather than cut-and-sew in order to avoid any bumpy seams. It also features waistband and cuff tabs with nickel-free poppers.

Both the Trousers (BZ54) and adjustable Dungarees (BZ56) are free from centre seams to afford the best decoration potential, while the Bib (BZ55) provides an additional on-trend option for gift set and personalisation potential. Also new to Babybugz is the Little Hat with Ears (BZ51) and the long-sleeved, 100% organic cotton Breton Top (BZ52) that can be matched to similar styles in Mantis World’s kids and adult ranges. Joining the Baby Breton are the new Breton tops for kids (HM84&MK84). “In 100% organic cotton and in sizes 2-3 years up to 12+, it’s a carefully considered classic brought bang-up-to-date with great potential in the own brand and e-tailing sectors,” reports Mantis.
Mantis for men and women sees the introduction of seven new styles along with colour additions to existing products: the Roll-Sleeve T (men‘s style M80 and women’s style M81) is now available in soft olive, heather grey melange and mustard, currently one of the most popular shades in fashion retail. “The team has been working hard to provide new solutions to popular shapes – all with that focus on sustainability and with responsible production and great quality as standard,” reports the brand. The new Tipped Polos, also available for men (M191) and women (M192), with the latter boasting a “modern, boxy shape that’s easy to wear and that suits, flatters and looks great,” have been launched to “great response”. They are made from an organic cotton micropiqué that promises a “smoother surface than many traditional piqué fabrics”, making them easy to decorate. They feature contrast tipping at the collar and cuff ends, and the buttons are made from coconut shell rather than plastic.
Mantis‘s new Boyfriend T (M193) offers an oversized look along with rolled back sleeves and a loose fit. Made from organic cotton, it‘s available in five colours including soft pink. For those seeking a sustainable sweatshirt, the new Sweatshirt (M194) is a “modern classic“ made from organic cotton with a touch of rPET (recycled polyester). Completing the line up of tees and tops is the 100% organic cotton Breton Top (M136), which has been added to the brand‘s unisex One range. With a drop shoulder and made in soft interlock fabric, it promises a “super smooth decorating surface“ and a tear-off back neck label. The final new products for 2019 are Denim Bags. Available in two sizes – a shopper (M196) with inside pocket, and a tote (M195) – they are made from 100% organic cotton denim and, like the Baby Rocks denim collection, feature orange- coloured thread top stitching for added credibility of style. “2019 and sustainability has never looked so good!” concludes Mantis.
