YinzCam, the mobile platform for fans of sports clubs in the UK and internationally, promises “innovative” new sportswear through a partnership with technology company Avery Dennison.
It has announced a multi-year “innovation partnership” that will see it tap into Avery Dennison’s expertise in on-garment branding through its Embelex portfolio of embellishments, such as “digitally connected” jerseys.
YinzCam is a full-service digital fan engagement company with mobile apps for clients including UK football clubs Birmingham City, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers. In the US and Canada, it works with sports teams including basketball, hockey and American football.
It will draw on Embelex’s digitally enabled branding technology that will seamlessly integrate garments with YinzCam’s platform to enhance fan experiences and create “deeper connections”.
YinzCam’s CEO and founder, Priya Narasimhan, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Avery Dennison because we see the potential in launching a new and innovative series of products in the market, something that sports fans and teams have never seen before.
“Our new wearable loyalty product will take conventional digital/mobile loyalty to new heights, making it possible for fans to ‘wear their loyalty on their sleeve’ for the first time, all through the club’s mobile app.”
The new strategic partnership follows Avery Dennison’s acquisitions of garment embellishment and customisation specialists Lion Brothers and Silver Crystal. Last month, it unveiled a jersey for fans of the British & Irish Lions rugby union team featuring an embedded chip that directs them straight to content via mobile phones.
Steve Mason, vice president and general manager of Avery Dennison Aftermarket & Embelex, said: “Engagement platforms are becoming an increasingly key component of the sports fan experience. Enabling fans to engage with their team in new dynamic ways fosters loyalty and a sense of inclusion.”
