What do you love about working in the garment industry? And what do you loathe? Rowan Chuck of Red Oak Wear in Basildon, Essex shares his pet likes and dislikes…

LOVE IT!

  • A happy customer, nothing better.

  • Clients letting us be creative with their designs.

  • Seeing the team love what they do.

  • Experimenting with new print or embroidery techniques.

  • Colleagues’ birthdays, cakes all round!

LOATHE IT!

  • When a client places a rush order, then doesn’t collect for another two weeks.

  • Unblocking toilets, I just can’t delegate that job to anyone else (I blame all the birthday cakes).

  • Trying to explain that there isn’t a magic button to convert your stickman drawing into your final artwork vision.

  • Discontinued products from suppliers, especially when it is my favourite Hawaiian shirt.

  • The drinks bill after the work Christmas party.
