Brightly coloured and packed with cat-titude, this punk rock T-shirt was screen printed by Evil Band Merch for the band Steam Kittens.
Michael Clark has been printing for bands for many years, having set up Evil Band Merch in 2000. He’d been running a pin badge company, but when most of the bands he was working for asked if he could print T-shirts for them too, he took the hint.
“I picked up a cheap six-colour, four-station press (British-made Red Devil), I put it in the back bedroom of my house and away I went,” Michael explains. “I now have a 10-colour M&R Gauntlet II and a six-colour M&R Chameleon. Needless to say, I’m no longer in the back bedroom.”
Brilliantly bright
The brilliantly bright print shown here on this punk rock T-shirt is for his friend’s band. “I’ve printed for all the bands he’s been in so I was happy to help with his newest band. The whole band loved how the shirts turned out.”
Michael used Supreme Organic Combed T-Shirt 220 Adult T-shirts from Casual Classics for the 25-piece run.
“The inks came from Pyramid Screen Products. I used Rutland NPT Silky Cotton White, Pantones 807c and 802c mixed with Rutland M3 Plastisol ink. Underbase was printed through a 62T mesh, colours printed with 90T mesh, and Hi White was printed with a 62T mesh also.”
