Whether it’s pedigree pups or mangy mutts, decorators’ dogs are valued members of staff at embroidery and print shops from Barking to Furness. This month we shine our spotlight on Baxter from KC Workwear in Birkdale

Full name: Baxter

Breed: Puggle, which is a cross between a pug and a beagle

Age: 8

Employment history: been at the company since birth

Work duties: Reception, following the boss around and general supervision of staff, particularly at lunch time when he will sit patiently next to staff members while they eat to ensure they do not exceed their lunch-break. If necessary, he will help them eat their lunch

Special skills: Nicking the boss’s chair as soon as it is vacated. Facebook advisor and model for anything the staff can find to put on him. Thermometer – he always finds the warmest part of the building. He’s also skilled at frightening visiting company reps with his toothy smile

Favourite colour: Baxter is a Liverpool FC fan and therefore likes anything red. He doesn’t know the Pantone shade so we’ve been told we can pick any red: “Baxter will never know, he’s not that clever.” We’re going for 201C. Liverpool fans, we await your outraged letters telling us what colour we ‘should’ have chosen.
