Meg

Meg

Whether it’s pedigree pups or mangy mutts, decorators’ dogs are valued members of staff at embroidery and print shops from Barking to Furness. This month we have a trio of hounds from Banana Moon Clothing in Birstall

Full names: Fergus Fudge Sweep Sowerby, Megan Brenda Deirdre Turner Clayton, and Alfie

Breeds: Fergus is a Blue Roan Cockapoo (and bears more than a passing resemblance to Brian May), Meg is a West Highland White Terrier, and Alfie is a Welsh Springer

Ages: 3 (F), 8 1/2 (M) and 6 (A)

Employment history: Fergus has been at the company since 10 weeks of age, Meg joined a year ago and Alfie joined when a pup

Job descriptions: Fergus is the finder of treats, Meg is the boss of other dogs (Alfie disputes this) and issuer of barks to ensure everyone is alert at all times, and Alfie meets and greets all visitors to Banana Moon

Special skills: Fergus can hear a treat packet rustle from 50 paces, is ball-obsessed and dries his ears on the office carpet; Meg sneaks undetected under desks before barking loudly and also protects the office from screen printers by barking at them as well; and Alfie will try to squeeze into any box and is an accomplished food thief

Favourite colours: Fergus’s favourite colour is Orange 1495C, which is the colour of his favourite ball, while Meg would choose tartan but, as that’s not allowed, she’s gone for 186C as it matches her favourite collar. Alfie’s shade of choice is 465 – the colour of his Dentastix
