M&R has launched the new Sprint 3000 DHZ garment dryer at the SGIA show in New Orleans, with the company claiming that the patent-pending design is “destined to be a garment-curing game changer”.

The new dryer’s standout feature is that it can function as a full-width split-belt 183 cm (72″) single-chamber gas dryer, and can also be converted on the fly into twin 91 cm (36”) heat chambers. The individual heat chambers can then be set at different temperatures and the belts can be run in the same or opposite directions. “Operators can switch between single-zone and dual-zone curing as needs dictate, and they have the option of heating only one zone, dramatically decreasing energy costs when both zones aren’t required,” M&R advises. “In essence, operators can run two 91 cm (36”) dryers in the same footprint as M&R’s standard 183 cm (72″) Sprint 3000.”

The Sprint 3000 DHZ features a variable-frequency AC-drive motor that powers M&R’s patent-pending Teflon-coated fibreglass Patriot Belt with SureTrak roller system. The “incredibly tight belt tolerances” enable the Sprint 3000 DHZ to run its two split belts at the same speed in the same direction to seamlessly function as a single 183 cm (72″)-wide belt, according to the company.

M&R adds that its patent-pending AccuSet retention-time belt-speed controller makes it easy to duplicate settings and eliminates the need to convert feet-per-minute into the time substrates will spend in the heat chamber.

The Sprint 3000 DHZ also boasts M&R’s Maintenance Minder System, which alerts operators when scheduled maintenance is due, while a 4-colour tower light enables personnel to monitor the dryer’s operational status while away from the control center. The dryer’s Job Recall feature allows operators to store operational parameters and recall those settings for similar substrate/ink combinations. Other features include high-capacity circulation and exhaust blowers; an integrated roll-down outfeed hood with exhaust blower; adjustable entry and exit openings; and cleanout access panels on the sides of the burner sections and drone modules to simplify cleaning and maintenance.
