Somerset-based garment decorator Monster Press is among shortlisted entries in the international Fespa Awards which are run alongside Fespa Global Print Expo 2023.

In the category for best special effect on T-shirts, garments and other textiles, it has been shortlisted for a T-shirt print called “No More Hope”, a parody inspired by a 1970s Star Wars posters and characters from Marvel’s Avengers.

Screen printed on Monster Press’ 10-colour MHM S-Type Xtreme press, the design has eight colours, printed wet on wet, using Wilflex MX plastisol ink on a discharge underbase.

The designs were printed onto Earth Positive classic T-shirts (EP01), which are 100% organic, for Cambridgeshire-based fashion brand Hard Times Clothing.

Will Petersen, director of Monster Press in Radstock, said: “We picked this design for the Fespa Awards as it was a cool design concept and we thought it was a great balance of softness, vibrancy and detail and we liked how nicely the colours blended together and faded into the shirt.”

The Fespa Awards, which have attracted entrants from around the world, will culminate in the announcement of the winners at a ceremony on 24 May at Messe Munich during Fespa Global Print Expo which runs from 23 to 26 May.

Other companies with work shortlisted in the category for best special effect on T-shirts, garments and other textiles include European garment decorator Lynka with a design inspired by the Abyssus roller coaster at amusement park Energylandia in Zator in Poland.
