From casual microfleece bodywarmers for high street shopping adventures to fully featured system jackets for extreme weather expeditions, there is a brandable jacket or gilet to match every taste and requirement. We review the latest styles
Result has introduced a number of styles this autumn (turn to this issue’s Featured Product of the Month for a look at the Phantom MA1 Soft Shell), including the new Heavy Duty Microfleece (R330X). This style includes a heavy duty front zip with interchangeable colour zip pulls, zipped pockets, stand-up collar and elasticised bound cuffs and waist. Also new is the R331X Dynamic Soft Shell Coat, R233J&Y Padded Jacket and R234J&Y Padded Bodywarmer.
Russell’s 140 Softshell Jacket has three layers: a woven softshell outer that provides weather protection, a microfleece inner layer for comfort and warmth, and a breathable membrane in between to let moisture out. This style is Teflon-coated, giving it a waterproof, wipe-clean finish. Also available is the Sport Shell 5000 jacket, which is designed for high activity. The jacket is breathable and water-resistant to 5000 mm, providing plenty of weather protection. For a more contemporary style, Russell suggests the Hydra-Shell 2000, which also offers weather protection.
New to the men’s premium range from Dickies is the two-tone Lewiston Jacket (JW7014), which is made from 95% polyester/5% elastane. The jacket, which is designed to be worn in ‘the great outdoors’, features a tail back hem, two-way mechanical stretch, internal hem adjustors, bonded fleece and elasticated binding at the cuff. Dickies says the jacket has a modern, stylish look, in black with grey panels and purple zip guards.
The Albatross Classic Fleece (3200, women’s style 3260) from Orn Clothing is a versatile jacket made from 300 gsm, soft microfleece fabric. This classically styled jacket has a soft cuff design for comfort and two external pockets with zip closures, while the two large internal pockets offer extra storage space. It has twin-needle stitched seams for durability along with an elasticated hem with side toggle adjusters. The women’s style offers a fitted silhouette and both the men’s and women’s styles are available in a choice of navy, black, bottle, royal blue, red, graphite and burgundy.
Ranks says its Polarware Fleece (RK78) is a popular product for children. The fleece is available in sizes from 6-12 months to 12-13 years, so is suitable for both the pre-school and school markets. Made from a 300 gsm pill-resistant fleece, it comes with two zipped pockets and has an open hemmed style with drawcord and toggle.
