UK-based headwear manufacturer Sharon Lee has announced it has achieved the highest-possible rating from sustainability platform EcoVadis.
With a Platinum rating for a high score of 91 out of 100, the company is now placed in the top 1% of companies globally after rigorous, evidence-based assessments.
EcoVadis is an international sustainability ratings platform that assesses how well companies manage environmental, social and ethical performance.
Sharon Lee’s CEO and owner, Lee Parkin, said he was “incredibly proud of the team for achieving EcoVadis top 1% Platinum status, giving our distributor partners the ultimate assurance we set the industry standard for headwear”.
The rating confirms that the company has strong environmental policies across materials, chemicals, waste and energy, with ongoing investment in energy efficiency and technology upgrades and a commitment to renewable energy and reducing transport emissions.
It also demonstrates that the Carlisle-based business has “clear, measurable” sustainability targets, scoring 100 out of 100 in key areas, alongside employee training and awareness, driving real impact.
The rating also reflects Sharon Lee’s robust systems for safe handling of hazardous substances and its effective waste sorting and responsible disposal practices.
The company is already a carbon-neutral organisation, with zero direct emissions and carbon neutrality on its “Scope 2” indirect emissions, with more work underway to build on this achievement.
Its portfolio includes a range of caps manufactured with Repreve fabric which is made from recycled post-consumer plastic bottles.
