Epson has unveiled its first direct-to-film (DTF) printer, the compact SureColour G6000, for garment decorators.

Due for launch in spring 2025, it features a front-loading media design that prints up to 90 centimetres (35.4 inches) wide, with an automated maintenance system and a fabric printhead wiper cleaning system.

Part of the new SureColor G-Series and called SureColor G6070 in the US, it is being presented on the Epson stand this week at Impressions Expo in Long Beach, California which runs from 23 to 25 January.

The SC-G6000 will appear at Printwear & Promotion Live!, at the NEC in Birmingham from 23 to 25 February, through UK distributor Xpres.

Unveiling it at Impressions Expo in the US, Andreas Goehring, director of Professional Imaging at Epson America, said: “Many print service providers are already using DTF in their shop yet are spending much of their resources maintaining their equipment rather than growing their business.

“This model is designed to open new doors for apparel decorators looking to explore new and creative ways to produce stunning apparel.”

It also features a PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead with Nozzle Verification Technology and a large-capacity sealed-ink-pack system featuring new UltraChrome DF inks. The inks are Oeko-Tex Eco Passport certified, CPSIA-compliant and non-toxic.

The new DTF printer offers real-time monitoring, with remote job tracking and notifications through Epson Cloud Solution PORT1, and works with advanced production print software Fiery Digital Factory DTF Epson Edition.
