Ink manufacturer DuPont is introducing jettable adhesive that will make it possible to do direct-to-film (DTF) printing without the need for powder.
Unlike traditional powder-based DTF systems, Artistri Jettable Adhesive JA1100 is jetted directly onto the film during printing, promising “a more streamlined, efficient and production-friendly workflow”.
The new powderless process is due to be presented alongside DuPont’s Artistri range of digital inkjet inks at Impressions Expo in Long Beach in California from tomorrow (22 January) until 24 January.
DuPont’s message will be that, when combined with Artistri P1600 DTF inks and Artistri DTF-120 film, this powderless innovation “can deliver a softer hand feel, brighter colours and durable wash performance while helping to improve safety and workflow efficiency”.
The company is also highlighting that the powderless technology is now commercially available to original equipment manufacturers (OEM) for integration with their printing systems.
Robert Simpson, global general manager for DuPont Artistri Digital Printing Solutions, said: “No other printing process has grown faster than direct-to-film, making it the dynamic technology in textile printing today.
“Together with our P1600 ink set and DTF-120 film, we are confident this solution will address market demands for softer hand feel and vibrant colour in high-value DTF prints.”
DuPont products, including Artistri P1600 inks and JA100 Jettable Adhesive, are in line with the company’s “safer-by-design” assessment for health and environmental risks.
They are classified as non-hazardous under the US Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and free from hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).
DuPont’s pigment inks hold Oeko-Tex Eco Passport certification, Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals initiative’s Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL) Conformance Level 3 standard, and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification.
