Print Possible started DTF printing with a TheMagicTouch R-Jet Pro machine six years ago, and bought a DTF Magic 60Pro 4-Head earlier this year.
Now offering a trade DTF service as well as garment printing, the team was hoping new DTF systems this year would increase print speed, which has happened, and for the colour ranges to improve more quickly than they have.
John Read says that if puff technology came to the market, “that would be amazing“.
Over the next 12 months, he would like to see the launch of a “true blocker“ – “many have tried“, he says. He also adds that while nine-colour systems are being introduced, they are “just way, way too slow and there are no branded ink suppliers (Kodak, etc) out there as yet“.
The team is hoping to add a third DTF system: “We‘re looking at the new Epson machine, but waiting to see on wider media/new colour information.“
One challenge faced by the team has been the quality of the consumables. “We did try cheaper film way back and OMG did it create nightmares, from colour inconsistency, to application issues.“
John advises others moving into DTF: “Make sure to use reputable inks and films, and understand the substrates you are applying onto.”
