No fewer than 85,000 stitches were used to create this vibrant piece of jacket embroidery from Custom Threads

The design comes from the album cover for Forever Changes from the American rock band Love, explains Bob Bailey of Custom Threads in Basingstoke, Hampshire. He adds that, “The design was created as a birthday present for a friend’s son’s sixteenth birthday – the album is his favourite.”

Bob embroidered the design on to the back of a Superdry denim jacket using Madeira Rayon Classic No. 40 thread in 14 colours. He digitised the design himself using APS Ethos software over a period of a couple of days, working when he got some spare time between the company’s usual workload.

The result is impressive and is certain to be a sixteenth birthday present that will be cherished for many years to come.
