You know the name, now get to know the person. Bev Logan, senior brand ambassador at Norty, talks about meeting her husband at work, her love of David Bowie and books, and winning a ‘bend and snap’ competition

How and when did you start your career in the industry?

I set up my own sportswear business and online community in 2018 – what started off as a teeny side hustle turned into a multi-award-winning business and global platform.

I had always used AWDis products so at a Print & Stitch show I was super-excited to visit their stand to see new products. I got chatting to the team, learned they had a position available for brand ambassador covering the area where I lived, so I applied for the job and the rest is history!

What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

The best thing to happen was in a bar job when I was 21. We were short staffed one evening and my colleague got her brother to help us out at the last minute, and so that night at work I met Christopher who I ended up falling in love with and 22 years later we are still together. Happily married for 16 years with two teenagers and more pets than is probably sensible.

What three words would your friends use to describe your personality?

This would depend on the friend but hopefully they would describe me as honest, kind and dependable (even if I am very scatty on occasion).

What’s your most over-used word or phrase?

Where did I put my keys?! (See ‘scatty’, above!)

Salt and vinegar or cheese and onion?

Hmmm… neither. Don’t shoot me, but I can take or leave crisps. Popcorn instead please and it has to be sweet and salted!

Which tune can’t you get out of your head at the moment?

I’m a big country music fan and listen while driving all over the south-west. Absolute Radio Country is playing Chappell Roan ‘The Giver’ a lot at the moment, which as well as being a great song has the added bonus of getting me cool points with my daughters.

What’s your hidden skill?

Honestly, I’m not sure I have any – apart from winning a ‘bend and snap’ competition on holiday once, haha! Although most people won’t know I’m also a certified Reiki practitioner!

What’s your favourite film?

Labyrinth 100%!! David Bowie will always be the Goblin King to me!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Reading until way later than I should! I’m definitely happiest in a bookshop.

Is there another job that you’ve always wanted to do?

I think in another life I would have been a teacher or a midwife.

Where is the best place you’ve ever visited?

Lake Garda has probably been my favourite place abroad to travel to so far – beautiful scenery, delicious pizza and gelato!

Which gadget couldn’t you live without?

I’m not really a gadgety person, I like ‘old school’ – real books over a Kindle, notebooks and stationery etc. I think the only gadget I like is my Garmin watch for when I’m 9 running, but I don’t wear it otherwise.

If you could ask one person (living or dead) one question, what would you ask them?

Being a bit of an art nerd I’d probably want to meet someone like Alphonse Mucha or Frida Kahlo. I’d have no specific questions, but would just love to listen to them tell me all about their lives and journeys. I love listening to people tell their stories – you never know what you’ll learn about someone and their life.
