Blank garment brand Bella+Canvas is heralding the return of the baby tee, reintroducing the style to its collections in the US but with a modern twist.
Inspired by the shrunken silhouettes of the past, its Baby Tees are crafted from a soft, micro-ribbed Airlume cotton fabric that stretches and recovers with ease, comfortably fitting bodies of all shapes and sizes.
Promoted as suitable “for every body”, they come in seven silhouettes, from straps and sleeveless to long-sleeved, and 10 colours including black, grey, pink, red, white, baby blue, natural and green.
The new range means Bella+Canvas has come full circle as it started out in the blank garment sector by selling baby tees. “For us, baby tees were the unsung starlets of the ‘90s and early aughts, clinging to the torsos of the era’s most prominent pop-cultural icons, and with that, to our minds forever,” the company said in its statement about the US launch.
“These iconic silhouettes (and those who wore them) carried with them a sense of effortless cool, comfort and emboldened self-expression. It was on these shrunken shirts that they plastered their brands, logos and unapologetic slogans — reflections of their personalities that clung to our minds indefinitely.
“Paying homage to the past, we’ve ushered these tiny tees back into our lives.”
