Beechfield Brands was given a special award at the Carbon Literacy Awards in March in recognition of the company’s consistent support of The Carbon Literacy Project since its inception in 2011, “without which much of The Carbon Literacy Project’s work would not be possible”.

Emma Griffiths, purchasing manager at Beechfield Brands, who received the award along with commercial manager Luca Conte, said: “Beechfield Brands have supported the Carbon Literacy Organisation for a number of years and it was a great privilege to receive an award to recognise this. A number of Beechfield employees are already Carbon Literate and we are aiming to roll this out to the whole company later on this year. Carbon Literacy is part of our commitment to 1% For The Planet; part of this involves volunteering for local environmental charities as well as donating money to charities whose main purpose is guardianship of the planet.

“It’s brilliant to be able to work for a company that gives so much back to environmental charities and it was an honour to be able to accept the award which recognises this on behalf of Beechfield Brands.”

The awards were presented by Cllr Alex Ganotis, leader of Stockport Council and chair of the Greater Manchester Low Carbon Hub, and Dr Ali Abbas, chair of The Carbon Literacy Trust.
