The prototype Roqjet DTG printer on show at ITMA

Roq signalled its imminent move into the direct-to-garment printing market with the unveiling of its prototype Roqjet J4050 DTG machine at ITMA. Roq product manager, Vitor Simao confirmed that the single-platen machine is still some from being market-ready and he would not be drawn on a launch date; however, the printer’s striking design certainly attracted plenty of attention amongst visitors to the Roq stand.

What we did discover is that the prototype machine uses Ricoh Gen4 print heads offering 1200 x 900 dpi print quality, and will print CMYK+white inks, with a maximum stated production speed of 60 shirts per hour at 1200 dpi and 120 shirts per hour at 300 dpi resolution. The RoqJet has a maximum print size of 400 x 500 mm, features an 800 x 600 dpi touch panel controller, integrated automatic maintenance system for cleaning, wiping and capping, and continuous ink supply system (CISS) using large capacity (1-litre) ink containers.
